Rooms & Spaces

  • TIP: If you are both a student and a staff member, use your faculty/staff login for NUSSO. You will still have access to student spaces.
  • TIP: If you are a student at the NU School of Law, you may reserve group and individual study spaces in the Law Library. See Reserving a Room at the NU School of Law website for more information.

Note: Please feel free to move unattended materials aside as needed. Library spaces are not reserved by leaving a backpack! Let us know if there are valuables, and we can see about moving those to Lost and Found.

Students in a large group studyReserve a group study (CoLab) room

Snell Library's group study rooms, or colabs, are available to current Northeastern students for group work.  All group study rooms have whiteboards; those on levels one and two have monitors.  Adapters to plug personal laptops in to the monitors may be borrowed at the first floor Help & Information Desk.


Group study rooms are available by reservation for the use of groups only.
They may be reserved by undergraduate and graduate students for up to three hours at a time.
A student may make no more than one reservation per day, up to three reservations in a two-week period.  Reservations may be made up to two weeks in advance.
Rooms may be reserved only during the library’s regular service hours, and are available as first-come, first-served during overnight study.
Please arrive on time. Reservations are considered void if your group has not arrived 15 minutes after the start of your reservation.

Phone/Video Interview Room

CoLab E, 130E Snell Library, is available to individual students for phone and video job interviews, for up to two 90-minute bookings at a time.   Please note: This room does not have any interviewing technology. Students must bring their own phone and/or laptop.

Video Conferencing Room

CoLab D on level one is available to the Northeastern Community for meetings that require video conferencing technology (camera, monitor, speakerphone).  After requesting through NUSSO, you will be contacted for a followup to confirm the schedule and any setup and/or training needs.

Reserve a Digital Media Commons workstation  (Snell level 2)

These are available for digital media creation and project work. See a full list of software

View descriptions of Dell PC workstations or iMac workstations, or for more information, ask at the second floor DMC Information desk, or call (617) 373-7987.

Workstations can be reserved by undergraduate and graduate students for up to 90 minutes.
A student may have three reservations at a time. Reservations may be made up to two weeks in advance.

Reserve a Recording Studio space

The Recording Studios, located on level 2, are open to current Northeastern students, faculty, and staff to create projects, presentations and online instruction.  During hours of service, staff are available to assist individuals and groups on a walk-in and appointment basis. 

Guidelines: Recording Studio spaces can be booked up to two weeks in advance for up to three hours at a time. You may book only one reservation at a time, for a maximum of 2 bookings per week. Studios can be booked during hours of service. A staff member will contact you to confirm reservations and discuss your training and support needs.  Please cancel your reservation if you find that you won't be using it. Space unoccupied 15 minutes past reservation time will be available on a first come, first served basis. For questions, please call (617) 373-2465.

Reserve a Digital Scholarship Commons space (faculty and staff)

Located on Snell Level 2, the DSC is a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment where faculty and doctoral students engaged in research and instruction consult with experts and colleagues to advance their academic projects and share best practices in the use of technology and information resources.

The DSC offers several types of collaborative workspaces, which may be reserved for up to two hours at a time.  Contact dsg [at] or call (617) 373-4351 for more information.
