The Digital Media Commons (DMC) is a dedicated media lab and digital creativity center space for students, faculty and staff. Managed by the Library and Information Technology Services (ITS), this collaborative learning facility offers flexible media-rich work areas, professional-grade creation technology, high-power computer workstations, printers, and scanners. Expert support is available at the DMC Help Desk.
Equipment and Software
The dual-screen Mac and Windows computers in this space support graphic design, animation, audio/visual editing, 3-D modeling and game design through a suite of software applications, and specific tools and equipment. These workstations offer a greater emphasis on media creation than in the InfoCommons, using advanced media applications such as ArcGIS, Maya, After Effects, and Avid. Students are strongly encouraged to reserve a DMC workstation using LibCal. Additional information can be found in the DMC section of the ITS-Managed Computer Labs page on the ITS website.
There are several black and white and color printers on the second floor that are part of the Northeastern printing plan. Scanners are located by Circle 1 in the DMC.

Group Study Rooms (DMC1-5)
Groups of up to six people can reserve one of the five study rooms. These rooms are equipped with white boards and presentation technology.
Two presentation circles create semi-enclosed spaces that are perfect for small presentations or hosting small events. These are reservable by library staff. Please contact dmc-studios [at] northeastern.edu for more information.
3D Printing Studio
The studio offers a full suite of 3D fabrication and modeling technologies. Stop by during walk-in hours, or look for monthly workshops on the three technology families: 3D printing, 3D scanning, and laser cutting.
The Audio and Video Studios provide state-of-the art audio and video recording, with a control room in the audio studio for recording, tracking, and mixing. There are also two Media Creation Studios available for basic audio recording, podcasting, post-production, and learning object creation. You must reserve these spaces in advance.
